Arrested For Putting A Plastic Bag Over Her 5-Month-Old Daughter's Head & Putting Her Inside A Trash Can

Courtney McBride, a 20-year-old Davie woman was jailed Sunday after she allegedly wrapped her 5-month-old daughter's head in a plastic bag, placed the child in a trash can and took a photograph of the event.

According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office, a relative contacted authorities after the child's father received a text message photograph that showed his daughter covered with plastic inside of a trash can.

The image showed baby's entire head covered by a plastic bag. The child was also laid inside a plastic-lined garbage container when the photograph was taken.

Investigators say McBride claimed that the incident was a joke, however, the image showed the child in a position that could have proved fatal.

The infant suffered no injuries, and was placed in the custody of relatives by the Florida Department of Children and Families, along with a 2-year-old sibling.

McBride was booked into the Paul Rein Detention Facility and charged with cruelty toward a child and neglect without great harm.
