Charged With Scalding Baby With Boiling Water Because Child Wouldn't Stop Crying

Michelle Woodhouse-Deboyes, a 33-year-old North Carolina woman was jailed Tuesday after she allegedly poured scalding hot water on her 9-month-old daughter because the child wouldn't stop crying.

According to the Onslow County Sheriff's Office, Woodbouse-Deboyes became angry when her 9-month-old daughter wouldn't stop crying.

In retaliation, Woodhouse-Deboyes allegedly poured scalding water on her daughter. When the baby still wouldn't stop crying, Woodhouse-Deboyes allegedly flipped the child's car seat over, bruising her daughter's face. She then proceeded to grind the baby's face into the hot water that had puddled on the floor.

The child reportedly suffered second-degree burns to approximately 12% of her body. She was taken to Chapel Hill Burn Center where she was treated for the next 10 days.

Woodhouse-Deboyes was booked into the Onslow County Jail and charged with felony child abuse inflicting serious injury. Woodhouse-Deboyes remains jailed in lieu of $100,000 bond.
