Man Tries To Beat His 61-Year-Old Mother To Death With A Hammer

Robert Benscoter, a 33-year-old Maryland man was jailed Tuesday after he allegedly tried to beat his 61-year-old mother to death with a hammer.

According to Anne Arundel County Police, Benscoter became angry with his mother after a dispute erupted inside her Annapolis home.

In retaliation, Benscoter picked up a hammer and repeatedly beat his mother in the head with it. The woman sustained severe injuries to her head and upper torso.

Benscoter lived with his mother off and on over the last few years, police say.

After the beating, Benscoter fled the scene while his mother stumbled out the front door and to a neighbor's home for help.

Emergency crews rushed the woman to a local hospital where she is listed in serious but stable condition.

Benscoter was booked into jail and charged with attempted murder.

Couple Arrested After Torturing Their 8-Year-Old Daughter With A Hot Spoon & Locking Her In A Shed

Alberto Melendez-Baez, 27, and Susana Espiru, 23, were jailed Saturday after the couple allegedly burned their 8-year-old daughter with a heated up spoon, then locked her overnight in a backyard shed.

According to police, an investigation was launched after the 8-year-old girl's grandmother approached a security officer and told them that her granddaughter had been abused by her parents.

The abuse started when the little girl was caught chasing her little brother around the house. When the little boy fell and cut his lip, Melendez-Baez and Espiru teamed up to deliver her punishment.

Investigators say Espiru held her daughter down while Melendez-Baez heated up a spoon and burned the girl with it. The couple then switched places, allowing Espiru an opportunity to burn her daughter with the spoon. The child sustained burns to her hand and hip from the assault.

After being burned, the couple locked the girl in a backyard shed, where she was forced to sleep for the night.

Detectives later learned that the little girl had been burned on other occasions as well.

Melendez-Baez and Espiru were booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail and charged with four counts of child abuse, kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment.

Woman Leaves Her 16-Month-Old Baby Home Alone For 5 Days While She Partied

A mother is facing jail after leaving her baby home alone which she partied for five days and nights.
Neighbors of the 20-year-old woman heard the baby girl’s screams and alerted police officers who broke into her filthy house.
They found the 16-month-old starving in her cot, her nappy and clothes had not been changed for days and there was blood on a blanket.
The distressed youngster was so hungry she grabbed at food which she was offered by police officers and also gulped down water.
Beer cans and bottles covered the lounge floor and there were signs of drug abuse.
According to The Sun, her mother – who cannot be named – was found at a friend’s house and admitting leaving her daughter so that she could party.
During an appearance at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court, the mother pleaded guilty to neglect, cruelty, ill-treatment, abandonment and wilful assault of her baby over five days.
She cried in the dock after being told by a judge that she could be sent to prison.
Prosecutor Heath Edwards told the court: ‘The police got in through an open window and found the house a total mess.
‘There was a strong smell of urine. The baby’s clothes were stinking dirty and had not been changed for several days.’
Judge Richard Twomlow said: ‘It is a very serious case leading to pain and suffering and misery for the baby.
‘On the face of it this is a case which requires a prison sentence.’
The woman will be sentenced at a later date. The baby is now being cared for by relatives.

Man Charged With Beating His 29-Day-Old Son, Causing Multiple Bone Fractures

Anthony Taylor, a 21-year-old North Carolina man was charged Wednesday after he allegedly beat a 29-day-old baby, leaving the child with multiple bone fractures and external bruising.

According to the Henderson County Sheriff's Office, an investigation was launched in late February after the baby's mother reported that her child had been abused by Taylor during a visit.

The child was reportedly treated at a local hospital for multiple bone fractures and external bruising.

Sheriff's Office spokesman, Frank Stout, didn't comment on the couple's relationship other than to say the pair had "parted ways."

When charges were filed, Taylor was already serving time in jail after his probation was revoked in February. Taylor had been giving probation following his conviction on shoplifting and larceny charges back in July, 2011.

Taylor is now charged with felony child abuse - inflicting serious injury. His bond has been set at $150,000.

The child's mother, 36-year-old Melissa Rudisill, was charged with misdemeanor child abuse.

Rudisill was charged because she left her son alone with Taylor after the Department of Social Services warned her of the danger Taylor posed, and pleaded with her to not leave the child alone with him.
