According to police, Wheeler had sex with an 8-year-old girl while staying at a campground in the town of Hadley in 2007. Wheeler then allegedly forced the girl and at least two other girls to wear diapers.
Wheeler was designated a Level 1 sex offender in 2002 after he was convicted of tying up a 13-year-old girl and giving the girl and her friends alcohol.
Wheeler pleaded guilty to unlawful imprisonment, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawfully dealing with a child. As part of a plea bargain, Wheeler was sentenced to 60 days in jail and was required to register as a sex offender. He was sentenced to additional jail time after he violated his probation.
Wheeler was booked into the Saratoga County Jail and charged with first-degree sexual abuse. Additional charges are expected in regards to the two additional victims.
