McDonalds Employee Wins Lawsuit After Being Fired Over Putting Too Many Sprinkles On A McFlurry
The last thing McDonald's worker Sarah Finch prepared at a restaurant in Carmarthen, West Wales was no Happy Meal, though it ultimately ended up putting nearly $5,000 in her pocket.
It was a McFlurry, and according to her supervisor's evaluation, Finch had been a little heavy-handed with the chocolate sprinkles. Finch had prepped the frozen dessert for a coworker, who asked her to "make [the McFlurry] a nice one," reports The Sun.
Apparently it was too nice, because the incident ended with Finch's firing earlier this Fall. Finch had worked at the McDonald's store for 18 months prior and was otherwise described as an "exceptional employee," according to The Sun.
Incensed, Finch took McDonald's to court.
"The matter was trivial, in that I provided a fellow employee, who was purchasing the dessert, a generous sprinkling of chocolate pieces," she explained of her suit to The Telegraph, defending her actions. "There is no standard for such measures -- they are always imprecise and will vary among customers."
The suit didn't make it far, though, with McDonald's recently agreeing to settle before going in front of a judge. As part of the settlement, Finch was awarded more than £3,000, in addition to a "good reference" from McDonald's for later job searches.
A McDonald's spokesperson told the Daily Mail the matter "has now been resolved to the satisfaction of both parties."
