Brandon Phillips, an 18-year-old Palm Bay man was jailed after he allegedly stole an iced honey bun from a local 7-eleven.According to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, Phillips reportedly entered the store and stuffed the $1.29 pastry down his pants.
The store clerk attempted to confront Phillips over the threat, however, Phillips hopped onto an awaiting "getaway bicycle" and fled the scene.
Investigators say an officer spotted Phillips a short time later and deployed a canine unit to catch him. The alleged "getaway bicycle" was located between two houses a short distance away.
The store clerk positively identified Phillips as the suspect and he was apprehended. The honey bun was never found.
Phillips was booked into the Brevard County Jail and charged with retail petit theft, resisting arrest without violence, and resisting in the recovery of merchandise. He is currently being held in lieu of a $1,001.29 bond.
