Joe Mongeon,
a 33-year-old Scranton man was jailed Saturday after he allegedly beat
up a 9-year-old boy after loosing a water balloon fight to him.
According to Scranton police, Mongeon was reportedly visiting
friend at the Valley View Terrace Apartments in south Scranton when he
engaged in a water balloon fight with a young boy.
The fight turned into an assault, however, when the young boy nailed Mongeon with a water balloon.

Investigators say Mongeon
chased the child down, pushed him to the ground, and began kicking him
repeatedly. When the child's mother attempted to intervene, Mongeon punched her, then fled the scene.
The child's mother stated that the boy is recovering from his injuries, and that he was only throwing the water balloons at the ground.

Mongeon
was booked into jail and charged with two counts of simple assault
and harassment. He was released after posting $5,000 bail.
