Man Arrested After Beating A Woman With A Hammer, Raping Her Daughter And Repeatedly Stabbing The Family Dog

Daniel Happ, a 27-year-old Illinois man was jailed Wednesday after he allegedly beat a woman unconscious with a hammer, raped the woman's 8-year-old daughter and then stabbed the family's dog.

According to police, officers called to a Brookdale Drive residence found an unconscious woman who had been severely beaten with a hammer. Officers also found the woman's 8-year-old daughter who had been sexually assaulted by the man.

Investigators say Happ raped the little girl while threatening to beat her with the hammer in the same manner he had just beaten her mother. Happ then used a knife to stab the family's dog multiple times.

Police do not believe Happ forced his way into the family's home, but had been invited into the residence.

The woman, whose condition has not been made public, was rushed to Sherman Hospital in Elgin. The minor child was taken into protective custody and the dog has been treated by a veterinarian.

Happ was booked into the Kane County Jail and charged attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery, predatory criminal sexual assault of a child under 13, two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated cruelty to animals.
